I have reloaded XP, and now youtube keeps resizing the screen in my two favorite browsers. I have not found anything about this on the web and I have updated all that I know to the latest versions.

Weird.. Haven't really heard IE working Ok but mozilla and Chrome faltering. Could be a bug or some kind of browser hijacks causing an issue. I suggest you uninstall mozilla and re-install with all the necessary updates. Could also happen if the page you are opening needs Active X controls to be enabled. Mozilla isnt really appreciated for supporting activex. Try google chrome with active x controls enabled.
Instructions:
Google chrome has a built in active X plugin in its default plugin array. However you have to run Chrome with the following switch " --allow-all-activex" So in shortcut that is used to start up Chrome, add this after "Chrome.exe"
Download and install the latest google chrome from here:

post back in case you need further assistance.
It could be a buffering issue:
Right click on the video-->Select "Settings"--->Under the "Local Storage" tab (the one that looks like a folder icon)
Slide the slider all the way to "Unlimited"
Then close the settings.
Now hit the pause button, let the video load to the end,
Hopefully you should be able to watch without ANY stuttering issues.
Also try enabling and disabling Hardware acceleration in the settings. Check out if there is any difference.
I'm putting a seperate thread to eliminate all possible things that might have been left out. I know that you are good at this, but some times re-checking really helps. If you can spare ten minutes with this, we can sort out the issue.
To start off, lets check the Direct x settings.
1. Go to run--> Type "dxdiag" without the quotes and hit enter. The DirectX Diagnostic tool must come up. Go to the Display Tab and check for three particular settings under Direct X features: a) DirectDraw Acceleration b) Direct3D Acceleration and c) AGP Texture Acceleration. All the three must be enabled for smooth video streaming/playback. If one or more of these is disabled, enable them right away. If one or more of these are disabled and greyed out, you must check your graphics driver installation. Try re-installing your driver and double check whether or not you have left out any important update or patch from your provider.
2. Uninstall your existing version of Mozilla Firefox and download and install the latest version from here:

or alternate link: http://www.filehippo.com/d
Pl
3. Download and install the Klite codec pack for all those video codec requirements from the following link:
http://www.filehippo.
4. Download and install the codecs for H.264/MPEG-4 AVC video streams from the following link:
http://www.free-codec
5. Last but not the least, check the process explorer for CPU usage while streaming videos. If it is highly CPU intensive, chances are that your video will be jerky (Especially when you are streaming HD content). But if you are using a decent enough processor you can totally leave out that possibility. (Must not happen in your case since playback is ok with IE).
FYI: Flash 10 has been reported with a few bugs which are yet to be fixed. Youtube has also switched over to a wide screen format which has caused problems for many browsers. If the problem still persists, uninstall your existing flash player using the application from adobe:

This will remove Flash player from all the browsers. So you will have to install Flash players for IE as well as Firefox once again. Download the standalone installations for IE and Mozilla from the links below: Note that I am putting in Flash player 9 for mozilla now just to check out if the incompatibility was caused by FP v10.
Standalone Flash Player 9 for Non-IE (Firefox): http://www.filehippo.com/d

What do you mean by resizing? Do you mean to say that it buffers every now and then? Are you using firefox 3? Update it with the latest adobe player. I suppose you don't have a driver issue for your display card. If you can rule that out, proceed to the download.
