The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Vista IE7 gives javascript and flash error when Standard User accounts browse to YouTube

Asked by pdotnet in Internet Explorer Web Browser, Windows Vista

Tags: , , , ,

I just installed Vista and am having javascript / flash issues with Standard User accounts.  As an administrator I installed Flash and YouTube.com works as it should.  For whatever reason, when any Standard User accounts log in and try to browse to YouTube, they get this error:

"Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."

YouTube have a support page for this here:
http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=57669&topic=10563#javaie7

but the settings they suggest were already set correctly.  I also found a suggestion here:

http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?s=b0fcde0e1d3947592d49204b356ac9b5&showtopic=536962&pid=588301676&st=0&

When attempting to run flashutil9b.exe as the Standard User, i was presented with an access denied error.  So I switched this user account to Administrator and then ran it, it did it's thing successfully and then went back to YouTube and it worked!  So I switch the user account back to Standard User, go to YouTube and I get the same error again!

It seems like there is some additional restriction being placed on Standard Users that is affecting the browser security, I just can't figure out what.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated!  Thanks!Start Free Trial
