Telnet:<IP> URL in IE7

Asked by noodleNT in Internet Explorer Web Browser, Web Browsers, Network Management

We use ORION from Solarwinds as the network monitoring suite for our network. ORION provides an nice website with links on it to Ping, tracert, RDP and telnet through the web interface. For some reason if I click the Telnet link the URL, "telnet:192.168.0.1", fails to do anything. Yet for my co-worker, it launches Hyper Terminal to the URL. I have changed the regkey to force Hyper Terminal to check if it is the Default Telnet client and even copied the class regkey from my co-worker to confirm it was the same. The only difference I can tell right now is that I am using IE7 and he is using IE6. Is there a way to get IE7 to work?

Note: Telnet:<IP> works fine from Windows Explorer.Start Free Trial
