No external links or print preview in IE7

I recently started having a couple problems with IE7. I don't know if the same issue is causing both problems, but I started noticing both issues about the same time.
First, if I try to open a link to a different site than the one I'm viewing, it opens a new Tab, but the page never displays, so i have to go to the original tab, right click on the link and select copy shortcut. then go back to the new tab and paste the link.
Second, I can't print from IE7.  Actually I can print, but all pages that I print are blank.
Even if I print Preview, the preview is blank.  Header and footer will be displayed or printed, but noting else.
