The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Cannot Install Adobe Flash Player 9 on Internet Explorer 7

Asked by kylevn in Internet Explorer Web Browser, ActiveX, Plug Ins

I recently uninstalled my Flash Player to install an archived version because I am a developer and needed to see how previous versions of Flash Player would runs sites. With that being said after trying to reinstall the Flash 9.x player via the automatic popup in IE I do not get a successful installation. First the I used a site that I created and IE automatically asks you to install Flash with the plop down active x menu the I click install then the page reloads and I go through the same process. The I did the same thing directly on the Adobe site and when FlashShim.exe tries requesting internet access through my zone alarm firewall I grant it permission and I still get the same results . I then found an article that said to use the Flash uninstaller, reboot, reinstall using a stand alone installation...same results. I then said forget it I'm going to uninstall IE. So I uninstalled IE, and the developer toolbar, ran Windows update and reinstalled IE, then tried a Flash site, I get the Active X and installation popups, I agree and get the same results. I have double checked my Tools>Internet Options>Programs>Manage Add-Ons and made sure all of my Flash/Shockwave plugins are enable.

And after those attempts I arrive here in search of an answer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to ask if you need more information.Start Free Trial
