Uncontrolled Pop-ups, Internet Explorer

When i open internet explorer, hornymatches.com opens up in another window.  I deleted my internet explorer browsing history, along with cookies, temporary internet files, form data, and passwords.  Also, popup blocker is turned on.  The problem still persists.  This problem does not happen when I use Mozilla Firefox.  Any ideas?

If popups are coming from websites, and your popup blocker is not blocking them, then use Popup Stopper

If popups are coming from your computer,

1. If you have Windows Messenger Service, disable it.  The Messenger is the source of popups and virus.

2. Run Superantispyware

3. You may have a variation of SmitFraud. Run SmitFraudFix to remove the banner

4. If no joy, download HijackThis

Run the program and you will find many entries. Most are OK. Post the log at http://www.hijackthis.de/, click Analyze, Save, and post a link to the save analysis here.

Sounds like you have some spyware/adware installed.  I'd suggest running a full antivirus/anti-spyware scan to detect and remove whatever you're infected with.  TrendMicro makes a good free online scanner that you can access here:  http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/

Make note of whatever it detects in the event it doesn't fully remove the infection, that way we can more easily take care of the rest of the removal.

I did spyware, virus, and smitfraud checks.  Problem still occurs.  I ran HijackThis and saved the logfile analysis...http://www.hijackthis.de/#anl.  Should I just delete the unnecessary & nasty files?

Could you post the link to your saved HijackThis log file please?  Then we can advise you a little more easily

I actually went ahead and used HijackThis to fix a few of the files.  I believe the problem is fixed.  If not, I will run HijackThis again and post a link to the log file.  Thanks!
