The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Automation server can't create object

I'm having a problem with a Utility that I'm running on our website that was developed by a 3rd party and I can't get any support from them beyond that the problem is related to a Security settings issues. So to be clear, I do not have access to the code. I am, for all intents and purposes, just and end user but I do have access to the Web Server that the Utility is installed and running on.

I am primarily trying to get this to work in Internet Explorer. Firefox doesn't work either and makes and even bigger mess when I try using it in there.

The particular button (Save) that throws the error when I mouse over it says in the lower left of the IE pane:
javascript:fnLoadXML('MAR 11-02-2007.fde');doNothing();
The result of which is to prompt you where to save a generated file that contains patient information so that it can be printed out using a separate Viewer Utility.

I have seen several suggested solutions to this error here and other places and have tried all of them.
- I've added the site to my trusted sites list
- I've set the "Initialize and script ActiveX control not marked as safe." setting to both Enable and Prompt as well as Enabling all other ActiveX settings for both Internet and Trusted Sites
- I've pretty much enabled/checked on/ran updates for every setting I can think of and still get this error message.

The weird thing is, when I originally setup this utility, I had it working fine on a few of our Terminal Servers and a couple other workstations in my office. It is still working for those Terminal Servers and one of the workstations. (My own has since been reimaged and was working as well, but I can no longer get it to work).

In comparing and checking the settings for those systems where it is working, their Security settings are set to Default for all Security Zones (i.e. none of the ActiveX settings are changed from the default), the site is not added to the Trusted Sites list, so it is strange as to why it is no longer working for any "new" systems accessing this Utility for the first time and nothing has changed, to my knowledge on the Web Server. I am the only one that would/should be accessing the Web Server.

Any non-orthodox suggestions on what to try would be helpful. If you suggest performing a particular procedure, please provide detailed steps since I may not know what you are asking me to do.

Thank you.
