internet explorer gives error when trying to view source of web page

Hello,

If I try to view the source of a web page, I get the following error from I assume Internet Explorer 7.x
c:\windows\system32\notepad.exe Windows can not access the specified drive or you do not have appropriate permissions to access the item. This also happens if I try to open a pdf file online, although I have Adobe installed. Any ideas?

can you give us an example page and we can see the appropriate answer for you.

one option would be to go to

tools
internet options
programs
change then html editor or reset defaults,.

Hello TrueBlue,

1. An addon may be interfering with IE. Disable Addons.  Go to Tools > Add-on Manager, and uncheck the addons.

2. Reset IE settings.  Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced.  Click on "Reset" button. Click OK. Close all browsers. Reboot the computer.

3. Check if a program running in the background is interfering with Internet Explorer. Temporarily disable antivirus, firewall, antispyware, ad-blocker, popup blocker, and all Norton programs.

4. Uninstall and reinstall IE7. Make sure you have the latest updates.

The problem was Zone Alarm. I changed the setting for Internet Explorer in ZA to the highest trust level and it works now.
