IE6 Running on Windows Server 2003.
I browse to a web page with a link to a PDF file: <a id="someID" href="file://somelocalserv
er/somefil
e.pdf" target="_blank">Some File</a>
When I click that link, a new browser window opens. The new window is blank (no content displayed). The "Windows" logo is waving (like the page is still in the process of loading), the cursor hovering above the title bar is "an arrow with hourglass". In the "Address" bar, there *is* the name of this PDF file displayed.
Now, when I click "Refresh" or "Go", the pdf document shows up in this window right away.
Tried changing "Display PDF in browser" setting in Acrobat Reader, no effect. Reinstalled Adobe Reader, no effect. Disabled all Add-ons in IE, no effect.
If I do "File, Open", and type the name of a PDF file to be opened, there's no problem. If I browse with Windows Explorer to that pdf file and "run" it, it gets opened in Adobe Reader without problems. No matter, if a pdf file is local or out there on the Internet, the problem is the same.
Thanks for any ideas.
