The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Problem with Microsoft XP updates - Internet Explorer update freezes

I am using Windows XP Pro, Service Pack II on a Dell Dimensions computer, Pentium, 863 MHz, 512 MB Ram.  For the last month or so, whenever I tried to download and install regular updates my computer has frozen over the Internet Explorer update. I don't care about that particular update since i use Firefox anyway, but this freeze prevents me from installing other updates that I'm receiving messagea about.  I don't get the opportunity to refuse the Explorer update until after it's already made some changes to my system in preparation.  I'm worried about missing security updates.  Also, I think that About:blank messages began to reappear after the first of these freezes.  These happen only when I try to get to Firefox from my Eudora email. I'm wondering if I should try to resolve this problem by uninstalling Windows Explorer and starting fresh.  Any ideas?Start Free Trial
