open word docs in IE7 not in Word

With Win XP and IE6, web page hyperlinks to Word docs cause the doc to open in the browser using a built-in Word viewer. This is the desired behavior for our application.

The identical web page under Vista and IE7 causes the Word doc to open in Word. I've tried the suggestion I found in another question -- http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/sharing/OpenDocInIE.html -- but this tip is for XP and I can't find the equivalent settings in Vista.

is there a way to force Vista/IE7 to open Word docs in the browser?
