The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Keyboard Latency issue with IE7

My company installed IE7 a while back, and we began having problems with keyboard latency - taking up to 5 seconds for a character to appear on the screen after typing it.  I searched and searched for a solution, but never could resolve the issue. - so we ended up uninstalling IE7.

Microsoft pushed out IE7 as a critical update and it caught us off guard.  Now we've got a bunch of PCs with the keyboard latency problem.  After much research, the only thing I could find that would make a difference was the Shockwave Flash Object add-on running in IE7.  If I run IE with all add-ons disabled, the latency issue disappears immediately.  So I enabled them all again, and started shutting them down one at a time - that's how I was able to confirm it's the Shockwave Flash Object causing the problem.

So we updated the Shockwave Player and Flash Player - but it didn't seem to help.   Also tried to update keyboard drivers - but that didn't do anything either.  I can't just leave Shockwave disabled, it's used too often to eliminate it.  I am desperate for a solution, I have about 200 PCs which this has affected, and I need to implement a solution ASAP - like yesterday!

All PCs are running IE7 on Windows XP Professional..
