The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Mouseover Madness

Asked by david323 in Internet Explorer Web Browser, Mice / Keyboards, Windows Vista

I have a Sony VAIO (VGN-NR310E). I use the built-in mousepad all the time when surfing the internet using Internet Explorer 7 on Windows Vista Home Premium. The problem is my mouse is activating things when I don't want it to, just by resting the cursor, for example, on one side of the web page. On YouTube it drives me crazy. I'll be watching a video, and right in the middle of it, a new page launches! My mouse inadvertently activated some video or ad just by passing briefly over something!  I have searched through the Mouse settings in Control Panel and I can't find anything about turning off Mouseover functionality. I want to turn it OFF. It is very problematic. Is it possible that my lef-click button in front of the mousepad is activating without it actually being clicked? (by capacitance touch or something?) I've noticed on some other laptops, there is a switch on the mousepad to turn it on and off. Is this whole thing due to the limitations of the mousepad, and there is no fix? Please help me understand this, and whether I can avoid activating links, videos, and ads in IE just by innocently passing over something. NOTE: I also have similar problems in Windows Explorer and navigating in Vista OS. So, it's not only an IE7 problem. Sometimes, for example, in Windows Explorer, it will switch folders for no reason, just because I moved my mouse around.Start Free Trial
