Internet Explorer 6.0
When the user attempts to click on the IE icon on his desktop, he gets the following response.

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

I have 3 users that just starting getting this response. They are all administrators to their systems and it did work in the past. They can still access the net going through the "My Computer" icon on their desktop.
Any ideas.

BexarIT--I understand this is happening when the user tries to open IE, and presumably go to the home page.  And that all affected PC's are on the same network, though not all PC's on the network have the problem.
There are many possible fixes.
One of the most logical is that the users have lost their permissions.  This could be solved for IE by right clicking on iexplore.exe|Security tab.  If necessary click on Advanced (on the Security tab)
Lots more.

This reference goes into quite a bit of detail (and deals mainly with a Windows Update causing the problem though other ideas are offered)

BexarIT--If this is something new, you could consider a System Restore to a date before the problem started.
