Hello,
I have a small office. I have a Dell Server with a LAN for the 12 employee computers in use.
One of my employees Internet Explorer just started not working. I've checked the connectivitiy of the machine and it appears to be connected just fine. She is able to send and receive email. But when we try to start IE7 it states, "page can't be found", etc. When I try the connection wizard it tells us to talk to the network administrator. Unfortunately that would be me and I have no clue.
I've run a virus scan and it came up clean. Our office basically only uses our computers for word processing, etc. No cad or any other "heavy" software is in use. I have over 8 years of personal and professional information that takes up less than 10 gigs to give you some idea of the un-complicated environment we have.
Any help would be much appreciated. As always my employee claims that she hasn't downloaded anything recently or changed any settings on the machine.
1. If no joy, An addon may be interfering with IE. Disable Addons. Go to Tools > Add-on Manager, and uncheck the addons.
If you cannot open IE, start IE without addons. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No add-ons).
2. Reset IE settings. Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced. Click on "Reset" button. Click OK. Close all browsers. Reboot the computer.
3. Check if a program running in the background is interfering with Internet Explorer. Temporarily disable antivirus, firewall, antispyware, ad-blocker, popup blocker, and all Norton programs.
4. If using Windows XP, uninstall and reinstall IE7. Make sure you have the latest updates.
