Default Browser

My company is forcing me to use Sharepoint.  Sharepoint works better with MSIE.  How do I make my default browser to be MS Internet Explorer?   Currently it's Firefox.  WHenever I open a link from my desktop or Outlook, Firefox opens.  

I tried this unsuccessfully.  I selected from MSIE.  Tools --> Options --> Programs -->  checked 'Internet Explorer should check to see whetther its the default browser'

Something else must be going on.
