How to configure concurrent instances of Internet Explorer (or another XP browser) with each instance using a different NIC?

Tags: Microsoft, Internet Explorer, 7.0, Utilizing Multiple NICs at the same time in different instances of Internet Explorer
We are configuring networking equipment via http through Internet Explorer (IE), but would like to have multiple NICs so that we can configure more than one piece of equipment per computer.  The equipment generally vends the same private DHCP address and you specificy the same gateway in IE to configure (example http://10.1.1.1).   The problem we are finding is that Internet Explorer uses the default Windows Internet Connection.  We want to have four NICs in the configuration computer so that we can open four instances of Internet Explorer with each instance used as an interface to configure a piece of equipment.  The configuration computer also needs to be able to access the company network and internet.  This can be done via a fifth NIC or one of the four.  Does anyone know how this can be done?  If not, can anyone recommend a different browser that will work on Windows XP to achieve this goal?

Thank you.

To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.
