I am unable to open a web page in Internet Explorer by clicking on a shortcut. These shortcuts are the ones you can make by either right clicking on the desktop and choosing a new shortcut and typing the URL and then name. It is also a shortcut you make from the web page when you right click in an open space and choose "create shortcut." And, finally, you can't open a web page from the Run command. And, as it states in the title, any link in an email will not open a web page. Using I.E. 7.0 in Windows XP Pro SP 2.
You simply get the error message:
Windows cannot find "
http://usatoday.com". Make sure you ty0ped the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.
However, you can click open Internet Explorer directly and type in a web page with no problem. And, you can open a web page from your Favorites.
Clicking on any shortcut with Firefox and the default web browser WILL open it in Firefox without an issue.
I suppose I could reinstall I.E. and fix the problem, but I wanted to check here first. I have never experienced this problem before.
Thanks.
