RSS feeds in IE 7 no longer automatically updating

This applies to a Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit machine.

For some reason, all my RSS feeds in IE and Outlook 2007 have stopped automatically updating.  I have checked and every one of them is still configured to update every 15 minutes but for 4 days now there have been no updates until I manually do a "Refresh All".  The global RSS settings in IE are configured to check for updates every 15 minutes as well as the individual settings for each feed.

I originally posted this question a few days ago and was given a solution that appeared to work but I found that the feeds were only updated once immediately after doing a re-import and then returned to their non-updating status.

How do I fix this so that the feeds will continue to update automatically?

It could be an add-on that is messing things up.  Have you tried it with Internet Explorer (No Add-ons), which you will find on your Start Menu under All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools.  If this works, then you can troubleshoot your normal IE connections by selecting Tools menu -> Manage Add-ons -> Enable or disable Add-ons.

Thanks LeeTutor but I don't think this is going to solve the problem as the problem manifests itself through the "Feed Headlines" gadget in Windows Vista sidebar which displays the most recent 20 or so headlines from all registered feeds.  I don't actually use the RSS feeds by using IE itself; I only look at them through the Feed Headlines gadget.

Previously this list of 20 or so headlines would update automatically as the underlying feeds themselves were updated.  It was when this list became stale after a long time that I realised that the underlying feeds themselves were not updating every 15 minutes as they were before.  I have checked every one of them and all settings are for frequent updating and, as I said, I have tried exporting and importing all the feeds.

Importantly ensure that the Task Scheduler service is running. It's important for the Feeds to update.

I have finally solved this after much experimentation.  The solution was quite simple in the end, all I did was to turn off automatic updates of feeds, shut down IE, restart IE, turn on automatic updates and configure the update time on each feed (again) and it is now working.
