Suppressing 'File Download - Security Warning' dialog box

Hi

I'm having a few problems with opening a shortcut (.LNK) via a HTML link across our intranet.  The file does load but only after the 'File Download - Security Warning' dialog box has opened first and prompted the user to Load or Save the file.  Obviously with multiple clicks this is going to become pretty annoying so ideally I'd like to suppress these warnings.  The files I'm accessing are a template file (.DOT) and a shortcut to an application on our network.

So far I've tried the following without joy:

- Adding the intranet to trusted sites for both intranet and internet zones
- Changing the 'Attachment Manager' settings to allow .lnk files as Low Risk

It's the same for both Internet Explorer 6 & 7 and it's XP with SP3.
