tools -> options -> browsing history -> options
also delete un used Active objects
tools -> options -> browsing history -> options -> vie objects

Question
Internet Explorer takes long time to come up
IN recent weeks my IE opens slowly. MyYahoo is my home page... when I click on IE icon that home page is displayed quickly, BUT... the "progress bars" at bottom right area of screen advances slowly. Usually takes about 10 seconds before the bars are all up and the mouse becomes usable.
I looked in IE "Properties" and see that it was installed 12/07 (when my Dell arrived). ANd it indicates it was "modified" October 2008. Have no idea how it ghot modified. That may be a clue...becasue began acting this way about 3 months ago. Or perhaps that's just a coincidence.

Hello Jamesnolandschmidt,
Are you using IE7? You may need to reinstall it.
1. An addon may be interfering with IE. Disable Addons. Go to Tools > Add-on Manager, and uncheck the addons.
If you cannot open IE, start IE without addons. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer (No add-ons).
2. Reset IE settings. Go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced. Click on "Reset" button. Click OK. Close all browsers. Reboot the computer.
3. Check if a program running in the background is interfering with Internet Explorer. Temporarily disable antivirus and other security programs, firewall, toolbars such as Google and Yahoo, and desktop programs such as MSN and Google.
4. If using Windows XP, uninstall and reinstall IE7. Make sure you have the latest updates.
5. Create a new user account in Windows.
