don't have office 2007 installed but do have the compatibility pack installed would this still create the issue

I am having a issue with IE7.0 when trying to use works sharepoint website. it comes up with a msg box with the following error:
Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site Http:/webiste adress
Operation aborted
when i looked at the event viewer it comes up with the following error

if someone could help me with this that would be good, i have check for spyware/malware and also deleted the temporary internet files and cookies

Office 2007 installed?
If so, go to Add/Remove apps>Select Office 2007, hit Add/Remove>Modify, and unselect Sharepoint Extensions under the Office Tools section.....
See if it stops crashing....
