Admin3k, thanks for your comment.
I can confirm that it still doesn't work even with this entry in the hosts file

Browse All TopicsDear all,
For a while now we have used the exceptions list within Internet Explorer 6 to bypass our proxy when using externally hosted work solutions. We have tried doing the same today but with little joy. The only difference is that this new web address has a port suffix. It'll work if the web address is resolved to an IP address.
For example
The exception 12.132.43.61 is added for www.demopage.com
Then we go to www.demopage.com:8064 it won't work.
But if we go to 12.132.43.61:8064 it will.
So it would appear that the exception works but only when it doesn't need to resolve the name.
Any clues?

As a work around and for trial purposes, can you add an entry with the remote page web address to Hosts file
start>run>notepad C:\windows\system32\driver s\etc\host s
12.132.43 .61 www.demopage.com
save the File as HOSTS not Hosts.txt , i.e. without extension
let us see if this is indeed name resolution related or a browser side issue.
