The user also has Firefox, which will also NOT display sites. I'm beginning to think it may be a windsock issue, but not sure. User has Windows XP SP3 with all updates. I cannot seem to uninstall Explorer 8 (not listed under software, but will check uninstall in the registry). Another laptop, connected to the same line, CAN get into internet. Any ideas?

Found out user only has 1.2GB free hard drive. With 1.5GB swapfile! Kinda hard to download internet pages when there is so little space left. Have to wait until the user cleans house.
qenqw2000 - no proxy involved.
chuckyh - maybe, have to wait and see
jcimarron - your suggestion looks the most promising so far, but again will have to wait and see.
