I had this problem too. The solution that worked for me was to add the server address to the trusted sites in IE.
Control Panel -> Internet Properties -> Security -> Trusted sites -> Sites.
So far only one of the computers out of 5, had this problem with IE8. What was weird for us was that the computer had worked just fine, then it stopped. I think the last Microsoft Update Tuesday might have changed a setting.
Hopefully this works for you.

Forgot to mention that "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Softwar e\Microsof t\Windows\ CurrentVer sion\Ext\S ettings\" doesn't have {7584C670-2274-4EFB-B00B-D 6AABA6D385 0}. I also tried article: Display Microsoft Terminal Services ActiveX Control (or Microsoft RDP Client Control) - http://technet.microsoft.c om/en-us/l ibrary/ dd7 01037(WS.1 0).aspx and http://go.microsoft.com/fw link/?Link Id=103719
