Disable internet explorer from bringing downloaded files to front.

I download multiple files on a regular basis and it gets so annoying (when downloading 5 drivers from dell.com, etc) when internet explorer brings the downloaded file to the front of the screen. Half the time I'm typing in a new file name, for the new file I'm downloading, while it's finishing. This ends up making the downloaded file open (due to me hitting enter). I want to stop IE from even bringing the file transfer windows which leads to the download complete window with run, open folder, or close.

I would try a download manager.  This way the downloads are put into a queue and downloaded one at a time.  This also usually speeds up download times and are made for people like you who are starting multiple downloads at one time.

I just googled for one quickly but here is a link: http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/
I haven't used this product and am not endorsing it but I'm sure you can do a little research to find a good one.

infolurk, I'm aware of firefox. Thanks but that had nothing to do with my question.
authen-tech, I'm aware of download managers as well and I am not interested.
The question was, is there a way to prevent this in IE.

What's happening here is called "Stealing the focus". Go to:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

and download TweakUI.

Once installed go to the general tab to where it says Focus (left side) and select on the right side  "Prevent applications from stealing focus"....

This should do the trick for you.

This doesn't work in Vista but it led me to ultimate windows tweaker which works with Vista and Win 7.
