you could use client-side javascript to add rows to the table.

Is there a setting or tag that I can use to tell IE to begin rendering the table before all of the HTML is received?
I am having a similar issue with a Repeater tag so I need the same thing for that.

Sorry. You never mentioned that point before. I thought you wanted rendering to start before the whole table is in. Now you say that you want the whole table rendered as quickly as possible. That are two different things. Please be clear in what you ask and don't change your question halfway.
Anyway, you could try to tell the browser asap which layout it should use. Using the <col> tag might be very useful, you might have the style as property on the table and elements (and not as an external stylesheet which has to bee loaded and interpreted separately).
I have not changed the question part way through. I stated in the beginning that I have an "exceptionally large table". I also asked "Is there a setting or tag that I can use to tell IE to begin rendering the table before all of the HTML is received?"
How have I changed my question by stating that there are "several thousand rows"?

I've never heard of any way to force IE to start the process sooner, but your code might be improved upon to increase the rendering speed.
