Your hosts file could be hijacked. Do a Windows search for HOSTS and LMHOSTS (no extension). Open each of them up in notepad then scroll to the bottom of each file. Keep all of the lines with the # at the beginning. Erase any lines that appear to link odd ip addresses to odd looking domain names then save the file. Test you internet connection.

example
134.87.27.09   baddomain.hk

Also go into Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Connections
Click on LAN Settings and be sure that there aren't any funky Proxy servers setup. If you are unsure put a check beside the box for "Automatically detect settings" and test.

Uninistall any recently added ie toolbars and Activx controls. Go to add/remove programs and unistall them if they do appear there. Then open internet explorer>Tools>Programs. Click on the 'Manage Addons' in the bottom. Disable any unwanted addons that appear there.

Regards

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I hve just checked LMHOSTS file and all lies are started  with # and can't see any odd ip addresses. In the HOSTS file it as only one line as 127.0.01 localhost. This is not started with #. Do I need to delete this single line from HOSTS file.

Thanks
Sx

You can leave that line. 127.0.0.1 points back to your local computer.

Try downloading and running MalwareBytes

Often this will remove remnants of Malware that traditional antivirus will not.

Another possibility is that the Virus has impacted your network stack.

Try running the following from a command line

Netsh winsock reset

Then reboot.

See if this fixes your problem.
