I need to find an offline html viewer which fulfils the following criteria:
1. Can be run from a CD Rom
2. Handles most standard html tags
3. If it requires an .ini file, then it needs to be one which is looked for in the program's directory and doesn't throw up an error message if it's "read only"
4. Is Freeware or quite cheap (not being distributed for commercial purposes - family and friends only)
What I DON'T need is:
1. A utility that sources and downloads online pages, and then displays them offline
2. One which automatically tries to connect with the author's website
3. One which relies on advertising banners
4. One that installs files on the host computer and adds registry entries
5. One that caches page data on the host PC
So, really what I need is a "VIEWER" with some basic navigation controls that allows a computer user to display html pages designed by me and placed on the CD along with either a Menu which autoruns, or just fires up the viewer by redirecting autorun.inf through any one of those small programs designed to allow this.
I have tried a number of applications purporting to allow this, but may of them fall into the category of "What I don't need" above.
Likse, NavRoad, OffByOne, 23rd Browser, Act10, HTML_Lite, OEM_Browser, etc all have the odd thing which doesn't suit.
I did like the one called HTML Executable, but it's shareware and I don't really need everything it offers. Something small and simple is what I require, a bit like my ex-wife :-)
Does anybody have a favourite and can provide me with a download link?
Thanks in anticipation.
