IExplorer.exe has generated errors?

IExplorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. Restart the program. Error Log is being created". I get this error dialog box whenever i sign out from a website or when i click on certain link.
The browser will be closed. This is driving me nuts as i need to login to some website. Please help. I've scanned for viruses.. I'm using win2k

From Control Panel select Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down to Microsoft Internet Explorer. Click on it and then click the Add/Remove button. When the IE Tools menu comes up, select Repair.
Otherwise (if IE6), try:
Start->Run-> rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g <Enter>

You might also try:
Start->Run->SFC /Purgecache<enter>
Start->Run->SFC /Scannow

i've reinstalled ie5.5 and to no avail..
the prob is still there :(

i've tried.. window verifies all protected files.. but still same prob occurs

Try running updates from here:
http://www.office.microsoft.com/
and here:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Also - check for spyware: (Adaware)

This may also help: Start->Run->CMD<enter> and type:
