The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. IE 6 - links won't open

Problem with Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP Pro

Basic problem:  IE will open any website just fine.  Clicking on most (90%) hyperlinks results in no page opening.  Right clicking on the link and choosing "Open in New Window" doesn't work either.  Printing the web page won't work.  This is consistent with both Cable Modem and DialUp access (tried both).

Strange observations:  Clicking on a hyperlink gives a brief (split second) refresh of screen as if it's opening the window but doesn't complete the job.  Also, using AOL web browser gives the same results EXCEPT that clicking on a hyperlink opens a BLANK window (as does rightg clicking).

Work performed:  I've done a complete SpyBot scan (zero problems).  I unchecked IE6 from the Add/Remove Programs (to uninstall).  Rechecked to reinstall (no change).  Microsoft has a Knowledge Base article I found which had me regsvr32 about 6 DLL files as well as verify 3 Registry settings (all 3 Registry settings were fine, and all 6 DLL files registered OK).  Not running any popup blocking software and no firewall software was running at time of tests.

This one has me completely baffled.  Any ideas?

This one is for a VIP, so the first person who can give me the right answer will get an additional 500 points via another posted question... I need to fix this THAT MUCH.  If someone gets me on the right track I'll award the points to them as well.  Thanks, All.
