IEXPLORE.EXE keeps crashing. MSVCRT.dll conflict

Windows 98SE with Norton Internet Security 2003. Recently upgraded to IE6 SP1 and problems began.

In IE6 "About" box , the following details are shown:

    Version 6.0.2800.1106IS
    Update Versions : SP1;Q837009;Q832894;q313829;Q831167;

Iexplore.exe keeps crashing and offers to send a report to Microsoft. It appears that there is a conflict between the App Ver of msvcrt.dll (6.0.2800.1106) and the
Mod Ver (6.10.8293.0) (?)

It may be coincidence but it appears that sites using Flash 7 are susceptible.

Any ideas how to resolve?

I will recommend that u shud go back to IE5.5 from Control panel>Add Remove Programs
coz IE6.0 is not Ideal browser with Windows98 =\
