Question

Microsoft Visual C++ runtime error when using IE 6.0

Asked by: jrshewell

I have a problem with IE 6.0 when I click on a link for a page that doesn't exist or cannot be found. It brings up an error message dialog that says "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error!" and tells me that the program is requesting an abnormal termination. Someone said it might be a bad BHO. I'm a newbie and am not sure what a BHO is. I downloaded HijackThis and scanned my computer. It came up with several things that might pose problems, but I don't know how to interpret anything in the log. I am including the log file in this entry.

The only thing is that I use KaZaa and so I know I have some adware/spyware on my computer. I cleaned most of it up and for the rest, I just don't allow it access to the network via ZoneAlarm so I have been able to avoid annoying ads. I am just hoping there is a way to turn off the offending programs so my browser works without disabling KaZaa.

Here is the log file text:

First of all , post ur LOG file here and have it analysed >> http://www.hijackthis.de/index.php?langselect=english
and it will automatically analyse it for u,,, Fix the entries which it labels as Nasty :)
To Fix, check the lines and click on Fix Checked !!

CAUTION: Before fixing the entries in hijackthis, make sure that they are really Nasty and can be deleted, better u first research for it on Google and then when u will confirm that they shud be deleted, Fix them. And whenever u run Hijackthis, run it from a New folder on ur desktop, so that in case of any problem, u can take advantages of its created backups of fixed items. And in case if u still face problems in dealing with it, just analyse ur log at the above site, and then scroll down where u will see a Save Analyse button, hit it and it will save ur Log Analysation, then copy the link of that page and paste it here, and we will check it for u :)
