Lotus Notes default email program with Firefox

I have a user who installed Firefox as their default browser on an XP SP2 machine.  Well, we use Lotus Notes here as our email client.  When the user goes to send an email from a word or excel document, outlook express opens.  I know how this works with IE, but cannot get Lotus Notes to open with Firefox installed when he does this.  How can I tell get Lotus Notes to be the default email program with Firefox installed.

Open IE, and go to menu "Tools/Options".
In the "Programs" Tab, select "Lotus Notes" for "E-mail" and apply.
This should set Lotus Notes as the default mail client for Windows.
All email links should now open with Lotus Notes.

Make sure Lotus Notes is set as the default email client.  Also, disable check if OE is the default email client.
You do this in Internet Explorer. Go to Tools > Options > Programs and uncheck the option to check if it is the default.
