^^^ ooops, that the menu bar, I accept my flogging with a wet noodle. But similar issue: if the menu bar is disabled, it cannot be restored by standard keypress shortcuts (they are turned off!) and there is no obvious, graphically indicated way to restore; "restore to defaults does not work;" one option is to turn it back on via a right click in the buttons area of the navigation menu, which is not immediately intuitive.

Which version of firefox r u using.Ensure its the latest firefox 1 had this problem.
browser.xu l#status-b ar" without the quotes(") r/content/ browser.xu l#status-b ar"
Profiles\x xxxxxxx.de fault\, where xxxxxxxx is a random string of 8 characters. Just browse to C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profi les\ and the rest should be obvious. les\xxxxxx xx.default \ x.default/ xxxxxxx.de fault/
If u r on the latest ensure u didnt turn it off by mistake.
Go to options>web features>advacned>check that the Hide the status bar is not checked.
The other reason this might occur is due to conflicting extensions that might've been installed.
Go to your mozilla profile folder.
Open you localstore.rdf file (use notepad or any text editor) . Search for the following
"chrome://browser/content/
u should be able to see something like this
<RDF:Description RDF:about="chrome://browse
collapsed="true" />
change the "true" to "false"...save it and then check firefox.
Ur profile folder locan:
* On Windows XP/2000, the path is usually %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\
* On Windows 95/98/Me, the path is usually C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profi
* On Linux, the path is usually ~/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxxx
* On Mac OS X, the path is usually ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/x
