IE7 won't enable Javascript

Hi there guys, this question is actually more just to help me personally. i have tried to use the YouTube of which I'm sure we're all aware. I've jsut installed IE7 on my machine and when I go to the site to play a video I get the message
'Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Get the latest flash player.'
Now, I've been through the options that i know exist in IE and looked through, there is no mention of Javascript, I mean why would it be switched off - what a silly option :S
I know it's not Flash-player because I've just been on the site and installed it (or rather, been told I have the uptodate working version) and so I ponder as to what to do next. Perhaps it's a detection error and my browser isn't passing enough info. to the page?
Please could somebody help me???

Greetings, kiranboi !

1. Go to Tools > Options > Security tab > Customize.  Scroll down to Javascript or Script area and enable all Javascript options. Click OK. Restart IE.

2. You might want to refresh your scripting engine:

3. Sometimes there's a corrupt file in the cache and one must go to Tools | Internet Options and click Delete Files.

3a. Start>Run>Regsvr32 vbscript.dll

3b. Start>Run>Regsvr32 jscript.dll

(WinXP users who have problems with 3a and 3b, see

4. Re-register all DLLs listed in http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=281679

5a. IE Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Browsing>Enable third-party browser
extensions (uncheck & reboot).

Many thanks for your help, I am actually going to wipe my machine and start again, however those tips worked in the end - not sure what it was because I did them all lol

I too am having the same problem.

I have never experienced this before.

it all started with a virus that was on the machine. The virus was neutralized and removed, thank goodness, but the browser still has issues.

I am going to try the above tips and see how it goes.
