I have a friend with a less than 1yr old Toshiba laptop getting the error "stack overflow on line 353. Fix....." It happens every time she gets into IE7. Last night I cleaned it up with Ccleaner, antimalware, spybot, installed AVG 8, updated and ran all of those, ran Registry Mechanic, Superantispyware etc until there were no more malware.
The error went away but showed up again this morning, and her internet really slowed down to hte point that Crossloop acts like it is on dialup. Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply...are you referring to the Windows firewall? I forgot to add she is using Vista. So it is the firewall or the settings in her firewall that is causing the stack overflow...I haven't seen one of these errors on a normal enduser's computer for over 10 years I'll bet.
We'll give this a try and see what happens...I'll let you know as soon as I do.

Hi all,
We have disabled the Vista firewall and the error came back. Here is another option I have found to try and wanted to know what you thought. The only problem is that I can only change it through administrator.
Go to the section and add the following line to the [386Enh] section of the System.ini file.
[386Enh]
MinSPs=12
Save the system.ini. Exit the System Configuration Editor and restart the computer.
If the problem persists, increase the number of spare stack pages in increments of 4 (for example, 8, 12, 16.) NOTE: Each spare stack page requires 4 kilobytes of memory. There should never be an odd number. It should be in increments of "4" as noted!!!

"stack overflow at line:" is not caused by java, Microsoft or any other manageable add-ons but caused by blocked "web bugs" which are not necessarily bad objects/cookies. "Web bugs are third party cookies"
Shutting down the firewall will take care of the error.
The solution is to manage your allowed list in firewall settings
Once done run the cclean again. This will help. IE7 has a memory leak issue which has not been taken care of yet, which is prime reason for the same. The functions keeps of using recursion for the error message.
