att.my.yahoo.com vs. att.net mail issues

With  Email being either pacbell.net or prodigy.net, many of us consistently encounter problems when switching from http://att.my.yahoo.com/ where we have the screen we like with our specific information, news, weather, etc. and from there we click MAIL, which then forces us to a new AT&T screen to login again even though at the http://att.my.yahoo.com/ screen it knows who we are and we are logged in.  What's going on?

Then on another family member's system, he was in a constant loop with the att.net login screen which loads at boot and continuously asks him to log in and then loops in dead mode over and over to log in again.  This login screen he sees is https:// vs. http://  He's using Windows 7 and IE9; and there is nothing in the Startup Folder that is showing IE, nor when checking MSCONFIG, internet explorer isn't shown there either as loading at startup.  Where could this be coming from and how to get rid of it?  These problems surfaced a couple of weeks ago after many Windows Updates.

Changed from IE to Google Chrome to make Chrome the default Browser and he can now at least get to his att.my.yahoo.com screen to vew what he likes.

Thanks for your help here; it's been really baffling.  ATT web site is useless in terms of finding ANY help here.

Affected family members having these issues were once on Windows Live but disliked it intensely and quit using it, if that's a piece of the problem.

I should add that when you click the above link it is a standard interface, not one that they've customized with their own requirements, and those customized screens have two MAIL icons, one on the right of the customized screen, and another on the left.  If they click the mail icon on the right, it opens a new window and forces another log in; but if they click the link on the left of the customized screen, it behaves normally and goes directly into the att mail without forcing a new screen and another log in.

I'm guessing that will take care of that issue; but still need to figure out where the IE forced login screens keep coming from (two of them) and how to get rid of them each time they boot Windows 7.  It's maddening, since even after making Chrome default browser this persists.

The other strange thing when using this link to open the att mail is a Microsoft pop up asking to allow ietag.dll .... which related to Office XP or office 2003.  May be pertinent, but they don't allow; see no reason for it.
