Safari Slashes

Using XP and Internet Explorer I am able to view image files on my LAN using the file:// protocol without the need of formatting the file address I use in XP Explorer-- IE replaces the "\" back-slashes with "/" forward slashes dynamically.  I would like the same kind of transparency for my Mac users.  Is there a way to set up Safari or Firefox (on a Mac) to do the same as Internet Explorer does on XP?Start Free Trial
