Exchange 2003  mail routing for branch office move

I have a pending branch office move in the US and would like to check the mail flow to ensure the mail is queued in the UK office whilst the move is under way. All servers are Exchange 2003

Inbound mail comes via the UK head office where  there is a Front end server and a mailbox server. The US office as 2 mailbox servers one of them running as the front end server also. I want to ensure that whilst the office move is under way in the US that all their mail is queued in the UK and that the mail is not bounced I want to ensure that there is enough capacity in the UK to queue the mail.

Is this just a matter of going to the Default SMTP Virtual Server Properties  and setting the delay notification and expiration timeout  to make sure it covers the period of the outage.?  For capacity do I just need to ensure the queue files are pointed to a big enough drive  ?

There are connectors set up to each of the US exchange servers but there is nothing here in relation to queuing mail that I can see so I presume this all done at the SMTP Virtual server


Any advice would be appreciated
