Is there a function that will show who "read" a message in a shared mailbox?

Outlook XP, we have a shared inbox that customers send email and a group of engineers access and read.  Our rule of thumb is once you read a message, marking it read, you own it.  Someone refuses to turn off the "mark as read when viewing in preview pane" option, leaves all the general email marked as read in the inbox, and nobody replies to our customers.  Is there a way to add a field chooser or something else to display the user that read the message or last touched it?

Thanks,
