How to retrieve deleted messages from Yahoo Messenger?

Hello,

Well, my question pretty much says it: is there a way to retrieve messages that were accidentally deleted from Yahoo Messenger's message archive? They got deleted as a whole folder, and on my computer files don't go to Recycle Bin first, they get deleted right away. Plus I think that those messages should have been stored online (while still being in my YM's message archive before I deleted them I mean), not on my computer in the first place. I guess there isn't really a way to get them back, but I thought I'd ask here. Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you.

well there are some things like Fast FIle Recover - that read the deleted file, as windows doesnt actually wipe the hard drive, it instead renames the file with a funny character, so you can but their software and try to get it back - but if anything has been written over the file in the meantime, it is gone...

i used this product to recover files from when i deleted my entire pictures folder, i got something like 60% of my files back (it also only cost $15 back then)

Majorwoo - thanks for your reply! Thing is though, I'm not sure if those programs can help, since as I said I'm not even sure the messages were stored on my computer in the first place... you only see them when you turn internet on and log into YM (well not anymore obviously, since I deleted them). So my question is, is there a way to get the messages back from the YM once they are deleted...? I really don't know how it works, so I don't know if I should be looking for them on my compuer (I did try out a few programs like the one you mentioned, since you can try them out for free for some time... but it didn't really work for me, but maybe I'm just not so good with it). But thanks for the link anyways, and if anyone is or has been using the Yahoo Messenger and has had similar problems, please share your experience. Thanks again! :-)

well you could check your temp files for something that yahoo copied them too (otherwise it kep them in ram or read them from the server everytime)

if yahoo stores them the only way you will get them is to contact the yahoo people, and i guarantee you they will not be interested in helping you find them - sorry.  Again, check your temp files hoping it left a copy of a file there with them in it

Imagine how much server space it would take to record chats of 65-million+ people every day.
If you didn't save them, they are GONE.
