I use Money for personal banking information - Money 2000 on computer at work - Money 2002 on computer at home. I try to keep both files current - when i try to restore a bckup file from Money 2002 in Money 2000 it asks me for password to restore file???? As far as i know i don't have a pasword in Money 2002 program - or if there is one - I don't know what it is - I reinstalled Money 2002 and prompted to use any passwords? Problem is not bing able to restore backup file from Money 2002 in Money 2000 - Any help would be appreciated!!!

Hi,
I am analysing the MS Money 2004 file format. I have searched a lot of time on net for its file format, i.e., what encryption and compression techniques are used and what is the structure of its header, trailer, and else bocks.
If any body have information about that topic, plz reply me.

I had the same problem. I was using Money 2002 and tried to open the backup on a new computer. It asked for a password but I never set a password in Money so the file wouldn't open. I went to Microsoft

and downloaded a free 60-day trial of Microsoft Money Plus Deluxe. It opened the backup file without a password. This looks like a scam by Microsoft to force you to buy an upgrade.

Money 2000 doesn't fully recognise the 2002 format and thinks the file is protected.

Microsoft explain the fix is to "Update your older software to the version you are using elsewhere or later" and that the software behaves like this "by design"!
