Okay, so I'm not sure if this is the best place to put this question, if it's not, please redirect me to a better place:
Basically I have the following setup:
- 4 Citrix servers which all have load balancing for several different published applications
- Windows 2000 SP3
- Citrix MetaFrame XP SP3/FR3
- 100+ client workstations on a LAN/WAN connection
- 20+ client workstations connecting via DSL/dial-up
The question I have is:
Does anyone have enough experience with Citrix to suggest the best way of deployment. I know that there are four options for me, and was wondering if someone had direct experience with pros/cons of each. Also, if anyone has some links or books they recommend addressing this issue, I would much appreciate it:
1) Shortcuts to ICA files on a local server or on each person's workstation. (This is our current configuration, and I feel that this isn't the most profitable way to do it)
2) Web Portal/Intranet site. I have an intranet site setup & have been able to use it internally & externally...however, obviously it is a whole new track of learning, and may not be the best option....would consider it if people gave me some suggestions or personal experience. (I have NFuse 1.7 classic)
3) Full Program Neighborhood. This is one of the more viable options for me in my opinion. Basically we can give permissions to everyone who needs access to each published apps based on Windows login group. (accounting, billing, payroll etc). However, the downside to this is that the users still would have to do some manual setup & they would have a different experience. Of course they can do desktop shortcuts etc...but that isn't seamless completely.
4) Program Agent. This is what I am really aiming at!! This sounds so cool...however, may be difficult to implement. Basically (correct me if I'm wrong), it sounds like this will automatically push out shortcut icons onto the desktop/start-menu or system tray. (that sounds sweet) It can work with my already setup Nfuse webserver. If someone could please give me some more information on this, (experience, opinions, setup querks etc) I would appreciate it. I have read some from a book that talks about the XML setup & stuff. Please let me know
Thanks for your help!
