Thank you for the solution.
My solution:
I installed Procomm Plus on the new PC with Windows 2000. I copied the entire Procomm Plus directory from the old WIN98 PC and pasted it over the Procomm Plus directory of the new PC. This copied over the connection directory and other settings.

First, you need to determine what version of Procomm Plus you have because if you don't have version 4.8 then there is a serious question of whether it will even work on Windows 2000, and you would need that information to access the Procomm Plus support website, which is at: chsupp/pro comm/

Upgrading Windows 98 to Windows 2000 is definitely not recommended, unless you have a good reason, know what you're doing, and don't mind troubleshooting errors later. It would be better to back up your Procomm settings and any other documents/data that you need and format the hard drive and do a clean install of Windows 2000 on the Windows 98 machine (please don't format or do anything that drastic unless you understand what you're doing). Then afterwards restore and reinstall the information and programs that you need. Now, obviously, it would be easier to give her a newer PC with Windows 2000 already installed and then restore and reinstall the data on that. But since you're not sure how to export info from a regular software program maybe it would be better to have someone knowledgeable there to help you with the transition.
Taken from the Procomm website:
To use old connection directory information with a new installation of Procomm, you must export the connection directory from the old version, and then import it into the new version.
To export connection directory information:
1. Open Procomm.
2. Click File, then click Connection Directory. The Connection Directory window opens.
3. Click File, then click Export.
4. Choose the information you wish to export, then click the Export button. The information you selected will be exported to a file.
To import connection directory information into Procomm 4.8:
1. Open Procomm.
2. Click File, then click Connection Directory. The Connection Directory window opens.
3. Click File, point to Import, then click Specific. The Import Specific Connection Directory Entries window appears.
4. Choose the version of Procomm that you are importing from, then click Import.
5. Choose the file that you exported from the previous version, and then click Convert. The information in the file will be imported into your new Connection Directory.
