Question

Patch update

Asked by: assimilator

I currently have a Battlefield 1942 game that has version 1.6, there is an update to 1.6b and I can not get my machine to update properly.
I know this has something to do with the nocd crack that many game owners use and that the 1.6 patch used in the nocd crack is specific to that version.
So...does anyone know how and where I can get the 1.6b patch that is intergrated to another nocd crack.
Just so there is no doubt about what I am asking, I do own the original disks which are damaged so I use backup copies when I need to reload the game from scratch which is not nessassary at the moment and is why I use the nocd crack.
All suggestions greatly appreciated:)

Some recent games are now aware of the noCD, and now only work if the original CD is actually in the drive.  I wouldn’t be surprised if the patch does this.

This site is not here to help you crack your games!

If you have the original cd and it is faulty then it is in the software publisher's interest to swap out the faulty disk, possibly for a nominal charge to cover carriage and packing.

Ok, firstly ...sorry for the delayed response..
Moorhouselondon...I have tried the 1.6 to 1.6b...this does not solve anything.
Seb Gibbs...I beleive the patch does do this..hence when the servers move on to this patch..your left behind..
Phungus69...Ime well aware of this site's use and that it is not for cracks..ect, but consider that I have the original disk and just like some other games...lets take "quake3" for instance...you dont need the disk.
My original disks are damaged beyond repair because I have to keep using them...backups are not possable because they wont copy!
This is why I simply want to play the game I bought without using the CDrom, I see no reason why that is criminal!!!
Moorhouse..I dont beleive you can get a disk swapped from the publisher if the disk has a crack in the centre of it, I doubt that covers it.
So...back to square one...does anyone have the answer to this problem...

I don't guess you backed up your original .exe file before you cracked it, did you?

You could try to repatch it using an older patch.  I don't know if it would work, but it might.  Check around via google for the older patch files.  You might be able to revert it back to an older patch and then reload the newer patch and then crack it.

Every nocd crack I've seen required you to patch first...most of them just replace the original .exe file.  Perhaps you could get a nocd crack for an older version, then run the 1.6 patch again, then run the 1.6b.

If anything, go on Ebay and buy a used copy for a few bucks.  BF1942 has been out a while and you can buy a copy for cheap.

I have the original disks and the extentions to the game, I will look on Ebay but doubt I will find my answers there..
The option to try and reload an older patch seems to be the only alternative at the moment but doing this will possably make things worse, as 98% of the servers are on the 1.6b patch.

by: phungus69Posted on 2005-01-06 at 11:14:33ID: 12975555

Perhaps you misunderstood my directions....

1.  Try and load an older patch but do NOT crack it
2.  Reload the newer patch

When you go to reinstall an older patch, it may tell you that it has already been installed, but hopefully you will have the option to do it anyway.

Ahhh right I see...ok, but in doing that yes I would imagine that would work...and having the cdrom in the drive when I play the game....only the disk is damaged and I am trying to avoid buying another copy...but if needs must.
I will try this and let you know how I get on :)

There out to be a crack available for the newest version.  Enough people play that game to keep the crackers on top of things.

I have split the points amoungs you all..you were all helpful, but as this system was in such a mess with that patch and slow boot up...I have decided to re-format and reload the O/S.
Thanks chaps...
