Browse All TopicsHi,
I just installed Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.0. Adobe Distiller 7.0 which comes with it won't open/start. It stops at "building font table". Additionally, I am unable to convert MS Word files into pdf files. But I can convert .txt and webpages into pdf files. I tried uninstalling and installing Adobe, it still doesn't work. Somebody please helpp!!

Hmm, looks like the DLL's didn't unregister properly after you did an uninstall. It does leave quite some files after uninstalling. For what I know from my previous troubleshooting processes, one needs to make sure that they reboot after uninstalling and then renaming/deleting the previous install directory for Adobe and then do a fresh install. Also, adobe acrobat has the "Detect and Repair" option under the help menu. Did you try doing that (btw, you need to be an admin on the machine to get the detect and repair option).

Additionally check these KB articles from Adobe (though they are for earlier versions of Adobe, it still applies to the latter versions too)

Hi Blah00,
Are you printing using the Adobe PDF printer or the writer? Did you upgrade or did a fresh install? Generally if the acrotray.exe is not running in the background then the PDF creation fails, but since you are able to convert .txt and webpages perfectly I don't see that as being the cause.
