Browse All TopicsWe have implemented Exchange 2003 with Outlook 2003. We have Exchange 2003 in site A with two Global Catalog Servers. We have clients in site B with Global Catalog servers. Exchange 2003 does see the Global Catalog server in site A in Exchange System Manager under directory access. This is set to automatic. We know you can change this and add the other Global Catalog servers but everything we read say's not to change the setting. If we do not do the registry key the clients in site B use the Global Catalog in site A. If we turn on diags for Exchange directory access it does see all the Global Catalog servers in all the sites. We have found the Microsoft article to force Outlook to use the “Closest Global Catalog Server” for each user. However, we would like to know if there is a way to have the setting in the registry set for each workstation, instead of per user.

Make sure the subnet for the client in Site B is defined in the AD Site and Services, and assigned to Site B.
