Open up quicktime go to Edit --> Preferences --> Quicktime Preferences --> Click on the file types tab and then un check all the file types that you dont want to be associated with quicktime. From there open up windows media player and go to Tools --> Options and go to the file types tab for wmp and select all ( well at least all the ones you want to be associated with wmp ).
I dont know what maxthon browser is but if you want IE to ask you if you want to open or save or cancel before it does anything then open up Internet Explorer aka IE and go to tools --> options and go to both the programs tab and the advanced tab and hit either the reset button or the restore to defaults button ( depending on which tab(s) you are on )
If you could be more specific as to what maxthon browser is maybe I could help you with that.

Open windows media player -- go to tools--file types and choose what wmp is to open. Take quicktime off of the start up.
start -- run -- msconfig -- startup tab
uncheck any quicktime items.
Also in the windows us the F3 to search for media files.
