Auto-Configure Outlook

I am a network admin and it would be great to be able to some how auto-configure Outlook (Exchange) with the correct exchange server and user id so that I don't have to manually configure it for each new user. Is this possible? I have configured a GPO to deploy office2003 pro and have tested that successfully.

There's two ways that this is generally done.

1. Create a PRF profile file with your profile settings
http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/assistance/HA011364251033.aspx

& either point a registry key (outlined in above doc) to the prf file
or run outlook with the importprf switch:
outlook.exe /importprf \\server1\share\outlook.prf

2. use a 3rd party program like richprofile.exe to script the profile creation.

We use richprofile here.  I'm trying to remember whether it is in fact 3rd party or whether microsoft created it.  I know there are definately some 3rd party tools like it.

Hi Ronfast

I use a program called Policy Maker. very esay to use and very good. It basically enhances MS group policieis.

It can be found at www.desktopstandard.com it has to be paid for though, but worth it
